Today we are going to learn all the usages of It
1. first one is called Introductory It
Here we use It to say time, day, date, month, year and season.
For examples
- It is 7 o’clock.
सात बजे हें।
- It is Monday today.
आज सोमवार हें।
- It is 1st of May.
आज 1st May हें।
- It is January.
यह जन्युआरी हें।
- It was 2010.
वह 2010 था।
- It is Summer.
यह समर हें।
One more thing you have to remember here is about forms of to be.
( To Be के रूप )
To be (Present) – am/ is/ are
(Past) – was/ were
(Future) – will be/ shall be
- It is my birthday today.
आज मेरा बर्थडे हें।
- It was my birthday yesterday.
कल मेरा बर्थडे था।
- It will be my birthday tomorrow.
कल मेरा बर्थडे हे।
2. To talk about distance and weather we use It.
- It is 600 km to Mumbai from here.
- It is hot outside.
- It is cold here.
3. It is a pronoun for animals, little baby or non-living object.
- I have a dog, I love it.
- The baby (It) is healthy.
- Don’t sit on that table, it may break.
4. It for person
Who is there?
In this case you can answer like It is Rahul.
5. Subject of an Impersonal verb
- It is raining.
बारिश हो रही हे।
- It is getting dark.
अँधेरा हो रहा हे।
- It is true.
यह सच हे।
6. To take about duration
It + take
- It will take one hour.
एक घंटा लगेगा।
- It took 2 years to write this book.
यह बुक लिखने में दो साल लगे।
- It will take 3 months to learn English.
अंग्रेजी सिखने के लिये 3 महीने लगेंगे।
7. To talk about cost
It + cost
- It will cost you Rs. 10,000/-.
यह आपको 10,000 Rs. मे पड़ेगा।
- It cost me Rs. 20,000/-
यह मुझे 20,000/- मे पड़ा। (भूतकाल)
8. With Adjective
It is + adjective
- It is very easy to learn English.
अंग्रेजी सीखना बहोत आसान हे।
If you want to write the same sentence without It then you can write like this.
- To learn English is very easy.
- Learning English is very easy.
9. It + to be + Subject + Past participle + Other words
- It was I who had helped him.
वह में था जिसने उसकी मदद कि।
- It was Ashwinbhai who had recorded this video.
वह Ashwinbhai थे जिन्होंने यह वीडियो रेकोर्ड किया।
- It is Rahul who helps me.
वह राहुल हे जो मेरी मदद करता हे।
- It is Rahul whom I help.
वह राहुल हे जिसको में मदद करता हु।
10. It is time ( for + me) to + v.s.
- It is time to start the lecture.
लेकचर सुरु करने का टाइम हो गया हे।
- It is time to take dinner.
डिनर लेने का टाइम हो गया हे।
- It is time for you to take dinner.
आप के डिनर लेने का टाइम हो गया हे।
- It is time for me to teach you something you.
- मुझे आपको कुछ नया सिखाने का टाइम हो गया हे।
11. It is of no use to + v.s.
- It is of no use to scold.
अब डाटने से कोई फायदा नहीं हे।
- It is of no use to cry.
अब रोने से कोई फायदा नहीं हे।
- It is of no use to talk the same thing.
एक ही बात करने का कोई फायदा नहीं हे।
12. It has been
- It has been an hour.
एक घंटा हो गया हे।
- It has been 1 month since we met.
हमे मिले एक महिना हो गया हे।
- It has been 23 years to me in this field.
मुझे इस फिल्ड मे 23 साल हो गए हे।
